Welcome to Earth
Welcome to Earth - it’s a dark, cold, miserable place.
The folk that live here, don’t have much of a life – more
just an existence.
They are afraid to venture in to the darkness as wild beasts
live in the woods and they have no light to see the beauty around them.
Out of desperation they pray to the gods to help!
Tezcatlipoca and his twin Quetzalcoatl
hear their pleas and come down to earth to see how they can assist.
Drawing Lots
Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl
can see what the problem is (or more exactly cannot see).
The World is in darkness.
They decide to help the world by creating light, but a
sacrifice is required.
A noble born boy – and the town agrees.
There is no shortage of volunteers – who wouldn’t say yes to
becoming a God, and being an eternal Hero.
In the end, lots are taken and the sacrifice is chosen.
However there are limits to the future Sun’s power.
It will only be round half the day. (Sleep is easier when its dark…..and yes some
of the town’s more dubious characters preferred the dark)
Also what happens if the Sun gets lonely ? ……eternity is a
LONG time
A Year Passes
The two sacrifices are taken aside by Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl and taught the daily rites
they have to perform – and are given one year to prepare
A Year Passes – a Noble Born Boy
Yes – he performs the rites
He is given the best place in town – nice place babe!
The gifts are incredible.
Rich fabrics, game sets, great food and intoxicating drinks … Cocoa
and Coffee ….. and Coca
And the girls keep throwing themselves on him
…. Whats a boy got to do?
– party place – the most popular venue in town
A Year Passes – a Poor Girl
Yes – she performs the rites
She is offered a good place in town – but declines – she is
staying with her dad on the edge of the forest.
(Her dad has never had it so good – he is offered full time
employment at a reasonable wage – and he and the surrounding shanty have never
eaten so well, even if some of the foodstuffs are weird but tasty.)
She prepares
She prepares by talking to / becoming
She prepares by talking to / becoming the spirits around her
She prepares by talking to / becoming to the three layers of
the universe
The Heights – Mountains - the Andes – Air
The Ground – Jungle -
Amazon – Earth
Whats Beneath – The
Sea – Water
She prepares by becoming Fire
Preparing Fire
A year has past
Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl note
that the rituals have been performed on a daily basis.
Its time to make the fire…….to
create the Sun and the Moon
Tezcatlipoca dons his most
powerful form – Let the Rite begin
Lets create the magic fire
….. of course its me first, me first, me first
Failure and Birth
He runs
He runs headfast into the flames
….. but falters and falls
Jumping into the middle of a pink fire – is that really a
good idea?
She runs after him and
Jumps into the fire
Jumps and consumes the magic
Jumps and soars into the blackened sky
Jumps and dims the stars
Success and Birth
Covered with soot and feeling the shame, he is filled with a
new determination.
He runs and jumps into the flames
Jumps and consumes the rest of the magic
Jumps and soars into the blackened sky
Jumps and dims the stars
A New Era – 21st December 2012
And that tells the story of how Tezcatlipoca
and Quetzalcoatl brought light to the world and gave us the Sun and the
Moon. It was the beginning of an era.
And as we approach the end of our era on 21st
December 2012, we wonder what new gifts we will be granted in our new world.
The Future - After 21st December 2012
The Future - After 21st December 2012 .......
We are still waiting for the new era to start!
We are still waiting for the new era to start!
